We are looking forward to seeing you very soon at the 2024 IEEE RAS Conference on Soft Robotics conference in San Diego. The Conference website contains all the information you will need to maximize your participation. We’re including some key details below to help you prepare.

LOCATION / VENUE

The event will be held on the second floor of the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego.

PREPARING FOR SAN DIEGO

Temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 50-65℉ (10-20℃). Despite the usually sunny weather in San Diego, evenings can get chilly. Some of the social events will take place outside, so please plan accordingly.

TRAVEL

The San Diego airport is conveniently located near the venue (10-20 minutes by car). There are numerous transportation options including: Uber, Lyft, Taxis and public transportation. please refer to the airport website for more information.

REGISTRATION

The Robosoft registration desk will be located on the second level of the hotel in the Penny Lane foyer. Registration will be open during the following hours:

Sunday: 7:00am - 6:00pm
Monday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Tuesday: 8:30am - 5:00pm
Wednesday: 8:30am - 1:00pm

TECHNICAL PROGRAM

The main 3-day event will include plenary talks, technical lectures, interactive poster sessions and demos. The program was developed to highlight the rapid advancements in soft robotics technologies.

CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

All registered attendees will have access to the online conference proceedings beginning now and ending on June 17, 2024. To access the proceedings please navigate to the website proceedings page use the password provided in your registration email.

WORKSHOPS

RoboSoft workshops will take place on Sunday, April 14th. There is an additional fee for participating in the workshops that is not included in the main conference registration. More information about workshops can be found here.

COMPETITION

Introducing the 2024 RoboSoft Fruit Bowl Competition. The competition will showcase novelties of soft robots like resilience, body compliance, delicate contact, and deformability. More information about the competition can be found here.

FOOD AND EVENING EVENTS

We will have morning and afternoon poster sessions with coffee, tea, and snacks each day . There will be a 1.5 hour break for lunch every day to allow attendees the opportunity to enjoy the local restaurants in the iconic San Diego Gaslamp Quarter.

The evening events will include:
Sunday 6:00pm-8:00pm – Welcome reception on the Woodstock Roof Top
Monday evening – Student Social (see below)
Tuesday 6:30pm-9:00pm – Banquet on the Woodstock Roof Top
Wednesday evening – Reception at UCSD (see below)

IEEE SOFT ROBOTICS TECHNICAL COMMITTEE STUDENT SOCIAL

A Student Social will be offered on Monday evening at 7:30pm at The Smoking Gun. Drink tickets can be picked up at the registration desk beginning Monday morning.

UCSD SITE VISIT INFORMATION

We invite attendees to a tour of UCSD sponsored by the Contextual Robotics Institute (CRI) and the Program in Materials Science and Engineering. The tour will include a walk-through of the CRI robotics labs as well as poster presentations from affiliated students and researchers. The tour will end with snacks and drinks on the back lawn of Franklin Antonio Hall.

Buses will depart from the Hard Rock Hotel between 2:30pm and 3:00pm and will begin returning from UCSD between 6:30pm and 7:00pm.

Note: Space is limited for this tour and a ticket is required. If you are interested, please pick up a ticket at the registration desk.

IN PERSON HEALTH & SAFETY
