IEEE RAS Soft Robotics TC Student Travel Grants

To widen and broaden attendance at IEEE RAS conferences and Events, the IEEE Soft Robotics TC is excited to announce a number of Travel Grants for students. The goals of these awards are to foster maximum student participation and engagement. The awards include:

RoboSoft 2024 Full Travel Grant for under-represented groups. This is aimed at supporting PhD students or others who have not been to RoboSoft before, in particular from countries, institutes and demographics which are typically not represented at RoboSoft, and where funding is not present (upto 1,500 USD, deadline: March 3rd 2024).
RoboSoft 2024 Partial Travel Grant for Excellence. To support students who show excellence, to contribute to them attending the conference (upto 500 USD, deadline: March 3rd 2024).

ICRA 2024/IROS Women in Soft Robotics Excellence Travel Grant. Supporting travel for excellent women researchers who might not otherwise be able to join the conference (this could also be used to support child care and such related costs). (Upto 1,000 USD, deadline: March 9th 2024 for ICRA).

In particular, you must supply: 1) A motivation letter (maximum 1 page), detailing your research contributions (current and future), motivation, how this will contribute to your career. 2) Support letter (maximum of 1 page) from your supervisor or advisor which speaks to your motivation, skills and future potential as a researcher. 3) Information concerning any submitted or accepted works for the conference (optional). You should also be an IEEE RAS Soft Robotics TC member, which is free, and for which you can register here. All grants are available to apply towards actual travel expenses, including airfare, childcare and hotel. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis, and the student who is named as the primary author of each winning abstract will receive a travel grant. For every scholarship, after the event each award winner must provide a short paragraph to go on the TC website following the event.
