Mission statement

The goal of our lab is to further the scientific understanding of movement and manipulation in biological systems; and to apply this knowledge towards new engineering paradigms in robot design, fabrication, and control. Our aims are interdisciplinary in nature, and thus we value intellectual diversity, thinking outside the box, and outright curiosity. We believe that advancements are best fostered in a collaborative environment where contributions, and constructive criticism from our peers are welcomed.


The Gravish Lab was founded by PI Nick Gravish in 2016. The Gravish Lab is in the department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in the Jacobs School of Engineering at UC San Diego.
